If you work in an approved facility equipped with fluoroscopy or CT imaging and perform Percutaneous Radiofrequency Neurotomies, you are eligible to bill the corresponding fee codes under the MSC Payment Schedule. These codes were added in September 2021 and remain in effect.
To meet the billing requirements:
- Procedures must be carried out with imaging guidance (fluoroscopy or CT) with image capture.
- The operating physician must be qualified and practicing in an MSC-approved facility.
- When procedures are performed in more than one anatomical region, payment for the first branch in the second region will be reduced to 50%.
- Anesthesia, sedation, or blocks provided by the same physician are included in the fee codes.
These provisions ensure appropriate compensation when the procedure is performed under the required standards. Physicians working in eligible settings should confirm they are billing under these codes to avoid missed claims.
