On May 1, Dr.Bill partnered with hospitals to recognize physicians through our third annual National Physicians' Day campaign, bringing breakfast, coffee, and small tokens of thanks to physicians and care teams across Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta.
It was, at first glance, a simple gesture. But we believe Canada needs to face the deeper reality of what care entails. Physicians shoulder an invisible burden draining their most valuable resource: time. As we celebrate and recognize doctors for their dedication, we see their overwhelming administrative workload that can be addressed with innovative medical billing platforms like Dr.Bill. That’s why on National Physicians’ Day, we’re taking care of those who care for us.

Recognition Across the country
From francophone care teams in Ottawa to one of the largest teaching hospitals on Canada's West Coast, communities showed up for their physicians.
Celebrations with local catering took place at the Ottawa Hospital, Hôpital Montfort, Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Campbellford Memorial Hospital, Schroeder Ambulatory Centre in Richmond Hill, Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Woodstock Hospital in London, Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Diabetes, Internal Medicine and Endocrinology Clinic (DIMEC) in Calgary, and Vancouver General Hospital with the Vancouver Imaging team.
In between patient consults, on-call responses, and transitions from night to day shifts, Dr.Bill team members also said thank-you in person, visiting physicians and listening to their stories about supporting their wellbeing.

Why a day like this matters, and why one day isn’t enough
Our recent white paper, Hiding in Plain Sight, found that Canadian physicians spend an average of 7.5 hours a week on non-clinical administrative work every week, above and beyond their regular hours and clinical work. Eighty-five per cent take that work home with them, sacrificing precious time with family and their own wellbeing.
National Physicians’ Day is just one moment in time, and one of many opportunities to recognize our physicians and remind them that they are not alone. To champion their wellbeing, we need to embrace an ongoing commitment to sustaining their work with joy.
Dr.Bill will continue to build upon a legacy of care for physicians by reducing their invisible administrative burden. In doing so, we help doctors focus on what truly matters: their patients and their own wellbeing.
